Botox® is the brand name for Botulinum Type-A, a naturally occurring toxin that is safely injected into the muscles to inhibit muscle action and cause them to relax. This softens wrinkles and deep lines resulting in a smoother appearance of facial wrinkles leaving you looking refreshed and rejuvenated. Other popular anti-wrinkle injection brands available in the UK include Azzalure® and Bocouture®. These are the most commonly performed as aesthetic injectable treatments.
Botox® can also be used on other parts of the body to reduce excess sweating, an overactive bladder and many other muscular related conditions. Botox is a prescription only medication (POM) and can only be prescribed face to face by a Dentist, Doctor or Nurse prescriber.
Botox® is most commonly used on these various parts of the face:
1. Eye wrinkles
The wrinkles around the eyes – known as crow’s feet or laughter lines – are formed by frequent squinting and skin ageing. Using Anti-wrinkle injections can help relax the appearance of these wrinkles, giving you a smoother and refreshed appearance.
2. Frown lines
Frown lines can become particularly deep and worsen with ageing. Clinic@ Anti-wrinkle injections can help to reduced the appearance of frown lines, as well as reducing the prominence of the frown expression. Botox can help to ease wrinkles and vertical frown lines that form between the eyebrows and above the nose in the frown area, known as the Glabella.
3. Forehead lines
Most people hate when the horizontal lines appearing as forehead muscles contract when we raise our eyebrows.
Anti-wrinkle injections can help to soften the appearance of forehead lines, giving a smoother more youthful appearance to the forehead area.
4. Chin & Jawline
Botox can also be used in the chin muscle to reduce an overactive mentalis muscle and associated ‘orange peel’ appearance in the skin. On the Jawline, Anti-wrinkle injections in the lower face can help to slim and contour the jawline to give a more youthful appearance. In addition, treatment can be used to reduce teeth grinding, also know as Bruxism, and it’s associated symptoms.
If the pre-treatment checks find that there are no allergies or medical contraindications, then Botox is a safe procedure and remains the most common & safest aesthetic injectable treatment. At Clinic@, all our clinicians are medically trained, fully insured and follow best-practice guidelines to make sure your treatment is delivered as it should be, adhering to stringent standards of hygiene, helping you stay well.
